WHERE DO YOUR SPOTS APPEAR?

Where spots appear on your face can indicate how you can treat them. More importantly, it may help you understand how to avoid getting them in the first place.

Eye brows: Alcohol can cause breakouts in this area so it’s a good idea to do a regular detox to clear the liver.

Temples: You may notice more spots here if you’re stressed. Try not to put your hands on your temples when you’re deep in thought.

Cheeks: Pimples here and at the side of the nose can be related to lung health so avoid smoking; if they appear across the larger cheek area this may indicate issues with your colon and digestive track so avoid wheat or dairy and opt for vitamin-rich food instead.

Around the nostrils: This may associated to blood circulation and can be caused by eating too much sugar.

Corners of the mouth: A sign that you’re hormonal and related to ovulation.

Chin: Linked to the stomach, so try eating more slowly or having grapefruit with meals.

Lower jaw: You may notice more spots here just before your period and it’s exacerbated by excess sugar. However, if you need a sweet fix go for magnesium-rich dark chocolate.

DON'T PICK YOUR SPOTS

Sore, red spots are called papules and they will not be able to be removed by squeezing so don’t even try it – you’ll find they start to multiply and will scar.

Once a spot comes to a head you have two options:

Leave it to heal, which is definitely the best option, and apply Heaven’s WillowBee Mask & Cleanse to help dry it out.

Or, with clean hands and clean skin, wrap a tissue around your index finger and gently squeeze the contents until the root comes out - very little pressure is needed.

After it scabs over, leave well alone. As tempting as it is to pick you will remove good skin and create a hole, it will take longer to heal and leave a dip in your skin.

Resist all those old wives’ tales and never apply toothpaste, nail varnish, alcohol or talcum powder – none of these will work and may lead to further scarring.

While acne is most likely to occur in our teens, it still affects up to 25% of us as adults. I have created a range of skin-saving solutions to tackle spots and acne, and leave skin looking healthy.
