How did you get first break into the beauty industry? I suffered from severe acne as a teenager and struggled to find products that were suitable for my skin because it was so sensitive. Everything I tried just made it worse. When I left school, I did a beauty course at my local college and became a mobile therapist by the time I was 17. I used what I learned on the job to start mixing and blending essential oils into various creams for myself and then my clients and Heaven Skincare was born from there. Right from the beginning I wanted to help other people look better, look younger and overcome whatever skin conditions they had.
Adding bee venom to skincare was a revolutionary move. Tell us about your famous bee venom products? Each of my Bee Venom Masks contain my patented ABEETOXIN® that gives an immediate anti-ageing effect. Historically, bee venom has been used as pain relief but it had never been used as a skincare product before. I wanted to find an alternative to Botox after I noticed wrinkles starting to appear on my face. It took a while experimenting in my kitchen to get it right. At first there was too much honey in it so it was very sticky, but it still had amazing results and my clients loved it straight away. Luckily I improved the formula and created my bestsellers!
Which of your many successful product launches are you most proud of? It’s hard to pick as I am so proud of everything in my range. Being able to help my clients with products that really work is what continues to inspire me. If I was to pick my favourite product it would be between two. My Age Defiance Cream was one of the first I created. I wanted something that would be a real “all-rounder” – an anti-ageing cream that tackled acne, breakouts and psoriasis while being suitable for all skin types. But then there’s my Bee Venom Masks which are nothing short of a miracle. It’s like asking me to choose between my children, I just can’t!
What would you recommend for someone who wants glowing skin but has little time for pampering – a product that would make a difference quickly? My New Edition Cleanser is first cleanser of its kind to contain ABEETOXIN® so it not only deeply cleans the skin but it also controls facial muscles for an immediate tightening and firming effect. Like so many of my products it’s got many uses so works not only as a cleanser but also as a moisturiser.
What do you love most about your job? I’m probably not your average industry boss, I’m very hands-on and I still work on counter and carry out treatments so I have the privilege of meeting my customers day to day. One of the things I love most about what I do is helping people feel better – not only on the outside but on the inside too. I want them to shine with confidence and fall in love with themselves. I like to think of it as my special brand of Heaven.
