Getting enough shut-eye should be a priority to help keep your complexion in tip top condition. Aim for between seven to nine hours a night as studies reveal any less can lead to wrinkles and drier skin.
Before bed you should increase your core body temperature. Slip into a hot bath for ten minutes; once you're out the drop in temperature helps signal to your body that it's sleep time.
Don’t drink! Alcohol – especially in excess –affects the quality and duration of sleep quality meaning you wake up without being fully rested. If you need a night time treat, a little bit of chocolate can help because it stimulates serotonin and melatonin.
Set your alarm even, if you don’t need to. Whether I need to get up early for a business meeting or am chilling out at home, by setting my alarm each night I programme my brain to sleep better.
The National Sleep Foundation suggests you should put away your devices at least 30 minutes before bed. Rather than endlessly scrolling through Facebook try reading a book instead.
There are many different breathing techniques designed to relax you before sleep. My favourite is to take a deep breath through your nose then breathe out through your mouth while drawing square with your eyes.
