Our flagship spa in the traditional Shropshire town of Shifnal is renowned as one of the leading beauty salons in the region. We invited Lisa Piddington to visit and enjoy a morning of treatments.

I’ve been lucky enough to write about beauty for more years than I care to mention, but I still get excited at the idea of indulging in a couple of feel-good treatments. Having never visited Heaven’s Shifnal salon before I was more than happy to take Deborah up on her offer to pop along – and with a direct train from Birmingham’s Grand Central that stops just minutes from the spa, it couldn’t have been easier for me to get there.

Situated in the Shifnal’s Market Place, in a stunning black and white building, Deborah has obviously worked tirelessly to create a real oasis of calm. The contemporary decor – right down to the Heaven cushions – oozes luxury and relaxation. The shop front houses shelf after shelf of Heaven’s must-have products, from the world famous Bee Venom Masks to my favourite Hydrogels, and the large picture windows means it feels light and airy. I was led into the stylish waiting area and settled myself on one of the comfy, white leather settees with my complimentary coffee and a pile of magazines.

For my treatments, I decided on a gel manicure and pedicure – I admit I’d never tried gel nails before, mainly because I like to change my varnish throughout the week, but having looked through the colour wheels I opted for a easy-to-wear blush pink on my fingers and a sparkly red on my toes.

My therapist Emma was wonderfully friendly and chatty, and we talked away for my two hour appointment as she expertly shaped and painted my nails on my hands and feet, leaving me with a thoroughly professional finish. I was delighted with the results and couldn’t quite believe how quickly it took for my nails to dry – no more smudges for me!
