Anyone who has enlarged pores will know just how frustrating they can be. You may have tried countless products to minimise them, but to no avail. And the endless breakouts and blackheads are a constant reminder of your issue.
SO WHAT ARE PORES?
To understand why they can be a problem, you need to understand what pores are and what their purpose is. To put it simply, pores are tiny openings in the skin, connected to your hair follicles. They release our natural oils – sebum – to ensure skin is kept naturally healthy and moisturised. However, factors such as ageing, genetics, acne and daily grime can make them appear larger, as does increased sebum.
Enlarged pores are a sign that your body is in need of water – think of it like this, if your skin is dehydrated your pores are literally crying “feed me”! If pores are open for too long or your complexion is affected by outside influences – sun damage, too much alcohol, or even fad diets – they can become saggy. To help with this you need to bring the elasticity back to your skin with a deep exfoliation, so look out for one that adds moisture at the same time.
