With masks becoming the norm in our everyday life, many of my clients have experienced skin sensitivity issues from wearing face coverings. For some this may be dryness or rashes around their nose and mouth; for others it can be acne or breakouts. While it is vital to ensure masks are worn when recommended by the Government there are steps you can do to ensure you take care of your skin too.
You can make your own mask using tightly woven cotton which will be more gentle and breathable than synthetic fabric. It needs to be washed regularly though, because it will absorb your natural oils.
Use a barrier cream around the areas of your face that are covered to reduce irritation. I carry one of those little pots of Vaseline in my handbag so I can apply as and when I need to throughout the day.
Make sure you cleanse your face properly once you take your mask off. Use my Hydro Cleansing Milk to hydrate and remove pollutants; it boasts organic jojoba – the closest match to our own natural oil – to balance and condition the complexion. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel rather than rubbing it to avoid further irritation. https://shop.heavenskincare.com/index.php/hydro-cleansing-milk.html
Exfoliate to remove dead skin cells with my non-abrasive Bee Polish. Because it contains organic Echinacea it will help boost the immunity of your skin making it ideal for those who suffer with acne. https://shop.heavenskincare.com/index.php/bee-polish.html
Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! You need to keep your skin fully hydrated to stop dry patches, so if your skin is tight and flaky steer clear of products that contain alcohol because this can cause further issues. Instead use a daily cream that contains hyaluronic acid – like my Age Defiance Cream or Youthful Moisturiser – because it can hold 100 times its weight in water to correct dehydration. https://shop.heavenskincare.com/index.php//products/moisturisers.html
