Stress and Skin
Stress is a natural response of the body to a challenge or demand. However, when stress becomes excessive, it can affect the body's balance and disrupt the immune system's function. This can trigger inflammation, which is the root cause of many skin problems.
The stress hormone cortisol plays a crucial role in triggering inflammation in the body. When cortisol levels are high it increases sebum production, which can cause acne. Additionally, stress can also affect the skin's barrier function, making it more susceptible to irritation and infections.
Skincare Routine

Get Enough Sleep

Eating a balanced diet supports the body's natural defence mechanisms and reduces inflammation. Incorporate foods rich in antioxidants, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Also, avoid processed and sugary foods, which exacerbate skin problems.
Stay Hydrated
Drinking enough water is essential for maintaining healthy skin and reducing stress levels. Dehydration can cause the skin to become dry and dull, and it can also affect the body's ability to regulate cortisol levels.
Remember to take care of yourself, both physically and mentally, during exam season. If you find it all gets too much, take lots of breaks and have a good chat with your friends.
