The Beauty Benefits Of Lavender

With its delicate purple flowers and enchanting scent, lavender has been used for its therapeutic properties for many centuries. Here’s why I love including it in my skincare!

I love lavender for so many reasons – it’s one of nature’s super powers! It smells amazing and helps promote sleep; it’s naturally antibacterial and potent source of antioxidants. Added to that it's a great boost for most skin types.

How Does Lavender Help?

Soothing and Calming: It is renowned for its calming effects because its natural fragrance relaxes and reduces stress. It also soothes signs of skin sensitivity, including redness, itching and inflammation.

Antioxidant Protection: Lavender contains powerful antioxidants to combat free radicals, the harmful molecules that contribute to premature ageing. By neutralising these, it can protect from oxidative stress.

Antibacterial and Antifungal Properties: These help fight acne-causing bacteria and prevent infections. It can also assist in reducing the appearance of blemishes for a clearer complexion.

Moisturising and Hydrating: As a natural moisturiser, it hydrates and nourishes. By doing this, it maintains the skin's natural moisture barrier to prevent dryness.

Gentle Exfoliation: Lavender contains alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) that gently exfoliate and promote cellular turnover. It helps unclog pores, reduce blackheads and improve overall skin texture.

Ideal Skin Types for Lavender:

Sensitive Skin: Soothing and anti-inflammatory properties make it a valuable ingredient for those with sensitive or easily irritated skin. It calms redness, minimises discomfort and promote a more balanced complexion.

Acne-Prone Skin: Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties help reduce inflammation, soothe existing breakouts and prevent future flare-ups.

Ageing Skin: It aids in reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and age spots, promoting a more youthful and rejuvenated complexion.
