After decades of battling rosacea, one Heaven convert reveals her two go-to products and explains why she won’t use any other skincare brand.
For Maria Allsebrook, good skin was something she took for granted when she was younger. Through her teens and her twenties, she never had any issues with her complexion. Sadly, a family bereavement when she was 37 sparked a two-decade battle with rosacea … one that she finally defeated when she discovered Heaven Skincare.
“I had quite beautiful skin when I was growing up, I didn’t have to wear much makeup and I had no problems,” she explains. “Then my brother died very suddenly in a car crash and almost overnight my complexion changed. The shock and trauma clearly caused an imbalance; I felt ugly and hated how I looked. I tried my best to disguise the rosacea but I was only masking it not healing it. I tried everything; I changed my diet, I was taking tablets and I’d even seen a private dermatologist but I just felt like I was in a downward spiral.
“When I was 40 I had to come off the medication I’d been on when I found out I was having a baby but my skin got worse, and I was back to square one.”
It was when Maria moved from Norfolk to Shropshire in 2011 that she felt at her lowest, as the trauma of the move exacerbated her rosacea even further.
“One day I was sitting at home feeling very depressed when I started Googling local salons. I tried a few places but nowhere could fit me in. By accident I fell upon Heaven. I knew nothing about the brand but was just so relieved they could see me the next day.
“I didn’t really know what to expect but I was blown away as soon as I walked through the doors of the Shifnal spa – it felt beautiful, it wasn’t like any other salon I’d been in before.”
Maria still finds it emotional when she recalls the welcome she received. “The lady on reception looked at me and just said ‘we can help’. The first treatment I had was the most wonderful facial and while I wasn’t immediately cured my skin felt nourished and healthy for the first time in years. In fact, I was so impressed I think I bought every product!”
