How Do You Like Your Pancakes?

It’s pancake day so get flipping! There are so many toppings to chose, but how do you like to serve yours?

One of my favourite treats is a freshly cooked pancake, straight from the frying pan and served with lemon juice and sugar. Traditionally, it was a way to use leftovers before the start of Lent. One look through Instagram today and you can see that it’s now a great excuse to show off some fabulous creations.

A quick poll around the Heaven office and favourites include: smothered in Nutella; peanut butter and bananas; or served with red berries and yoghurt. A few of my team opted for savoury pancakes, with bacon and maple syrup coming out on top.

We were split between the classic British pancake or the American version, where you make smaller ones and pile them high.

Did you know … Shrove Tuesday always falls 47 days before Easter Sunday, so can be anytime between February 3 and March 9. The The ingredients were seen to mark Creation (eggs), Life (flour), Wholesomeness (salt) and Purity (milk).

The basic ingredients have remained unchanged for centuries, but if you’re looking for a great pancake recipe, check out this one from BBC Good Food.
