Whether you’re flying first class or coach, the same drying air circulates through the flight. This can leave your skin dehydrated and congested. The pressured environment and temperature doesn’t help either. I’ve put this blog post together on travel skin care to help you protect your skin so you can carry on looking heavenly.
Make sure your washing twice a day.
This one seems like a no-brainer, but when your traveling you can get off track as you are in a new place, with so much going on causing you to fall out of a routine. The Cleanse & Foam Wash is the perfect holiday cleanser, as it contains organic mandarin essential oil to give you that fresh glowing look, as well as your daily dose of Vitamin C. Don’t skip a wash. Your skin will thank you later.
Avoid hot water.
It is only natural to wash our face in the shower with the steaming hot water, however, this does not help your skin, especially the sensitive skin on our face. Make sure you wash with warm/cooler water to avoid harming the skin and close those pores.
Using a cleanser.
You need to use a cleanser, don’t just throw a bit of water on your face or use a wet wipe, this does nothing. Honestly, while traveling I only wear makeup twice a week, if that. If I do wear makeup I always wash off with a cleanser, this is very effective to get everything off. I swear by the New Edition cleanser for taking my makeup off. This also can promote eyelash growth thanks to the addition of echinacea.
Avoid wiping your face dry.
If you’ve just got out of the pool and your face is wet try not to drag a towel across or down your face. Gravity is too real and all of the pulling can cause your skin to sag over time. Pat or dab it dry instead.
Invest in a good moisturiser which has protection in.
Yes, skincare could be expensive when traveling, but for me, it’s worth the investment. Using a moisturiser with anti-aging and other target solutions will only keep your skin protected and nourished for the long haul. Prism releases your skins own peptide to produce collagen, which in fact makes your skin smoother and younger. Elastin will create that ever elusive firm contours of your face. It’s a no-brainer that your Age Defiance Prism will be with you!
Sun cream, sun cream, sun cream.
Being in the sun is nice but not for your face. It’s important to use a moisturiser with SPF or Prism in, but that simply is not enough. You need to apply sun cream every hour especially if you are in beachy, desert, hot places. I still tan either way but it’s good to know I won’t be causing my skin any damage from those strong rays.
Use a peel.
I use a peel once a week, or once every two weeks. This helps me really get into those pores, turn over those cells to get rid of dark spots and exfoliate the skin properly. This is when I’m thankful for the Bee Peel.
Buy Long Weekenders.
You have all your heavenly skin care at home so why not buy it in a smaller version to take away with you. I live by these. That way I am not bogged down by all of my toiletries and I can make those carry on restrictions.
Stick to the same thing for a least a month.
It is super easy to buy whatever is convenient and continue changing products. This is actually not very effective. You should stick with the same product for a while to give it time to really work and show the results.
Keep it simple!
Depending on your skin, 3-5 products max are all you need. For me it is super simple: cleanse, exfoliator (peel), toner, moisturiser, sun cream. You can throw a serum/oil or an eye cream into the mix if they are specific concerns you want to tackle.
Drinking lots of water, and eating well will also contribute to better skin. That way, half of the work is already done!
